Michael J. Long represents several Massachusetts school districts as general labor, and special education counsel.  He renders services on an ongoing basis as labor counsel to municipal entities on school, police, fire, civil service and other employment matters and has served as special counsel for many other public employers.  For many years he has been General Counsel to the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, a state-wide organization to which he renders advice on a wide range of education law topics.

Attorney Long is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, including its subcommittees on public law and labor law, Massachusetts Council of School Attorneys, National Association of School Boards Council of School Attorneys, Boston Bar Association, Norfolk County Bar Association and Quincy Bar Association.  He has been a featured panelist at Massachusetts Bar Association and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education seminars on a number of topics in the fields relating to education and municipal law, and has been a featured panelist at several conferences of the Boston Society of Architects, speaking on indoor air quality and school construction issues.  Mr. Long authored a chapter on School Finance for MCLE’s 2005 & 2006 Publications on School Law.
